I am in process of fixing it when the door shut.
Chevy truck door wont open from inside or outside.
The lock barely moves but the window works fine.
These parts run between the key tumbler the door lock button the lock mechanism the interior and exterior door handles and the release mechanism for the latch.
You can take a long screw driver of piece of drill rod and manipulate the lever that opens the latch to get the door open and make repairs as needed.
Are there any tricks to open the door so i can finish my repair.
The method for this will vary by make and model but start by trying to slide the panel upwards.
I have a 1997 chevy 1500 with power windows and door locks.
Remove the door panel.
If you are having trouble because your truck door won t open from the inside or outside there is most likely an issue with rods that hold the lock in place.
The lock on my door still goes up and down as if it can be locked and unlocked.
If it does not move gently insert a screwdriver or small pry bar between the panel and door and gently pry the panel away from the door to determine if there are any retaining clips.
Roll the window down and carefully push the door panel away at the top right above the latch rear of door then look down inside the door at the latch and figure out which rod fell of the latch.
I have also tried using my key in the keyhole on the outside but still nothing.
It feels as if there is nothing there or no tension on anything.
